Pia Fries (*1955) is a contemporary painter with a high profile. Her art is situated on the border between abstraction and representation, combining expressive painting with fragments of printed graphic art masterpieces. She has produced a cycle of pictures especially for the exhibition in the Kunsthalle, images which explore and employ key works from our collection.
On the occasion of the exhibition a catalogue will be published. Contributing authors: Oskar Bätschmann, Pia Müller-Tamm, Dorit Schäfer, Astrid Reuter and Regine Hess.
