The CAC Malaga is presenting ma.r.s., an exhibition by the German artist Thomas Ruff. It consists of three series: ma.r.s. (2010-2011), Sterne [Stars] (1992) and jpeg (2007), comprising a total of 31 large-format works. The exhibition centres on three elements: the planet Mars, rockets and stars, thus involving the idea of presenting landscapes of Mars, which cannot be photographed without the rockets that install satellites in space, surrounded by the stars of that planet's orbit. The arrangement of the photographs in the gallery follows this concept, generating a Martian space arising from the manipulation of images that Ruff has gathered from a variety of sources.
The work ofThomas Ruff is represented in the permanent collection of the CAC Malaga and a catalogue has been published on the occasion of the exhibition
