In the last few years the transformation and metamorphosis of objects is an ever stronger tendency (current?) in contemporary art. The reification of the body stands vis-á-vis the psychological interpretation of the world of things and merchandise. The look beneath the surface of todays visual environment amalgamates with aspects of the surrealist tradition, which are interpreted in new and surprising ways by the artists of our exhibition Transformed Objects. Our show focuses on three dimensional objects, sculptures and installations.
The fact that the interest in “post-surrealistic” tendencies is growing is attested by the parallel shows in Hamburg (Das Ohr von Giacometti, Galerie Levy) and in Frankfurt (Surreale Dinge, Schirn Kunsthalle).
