Manfred Pernice

"Die dritte Dimension", now out of print, is a monograph, an catalogue and an artist's book in one: the artist himself decided on form and content of the book. The result is a monographic catalogue that deals with the artist's central works, with focus on drawings and sketches, direct preliminary drawings of a sculpture or installation, supplementary components of an object. These drawings, in their meaning and diversity, have so far only been received to a limited extent. Planned as a narrow catalogue for the exhibition at Portikus in Frankfurt in 2000, the book turned out to be a comprehensive monograph of the artist. Manfred Pernice, born in 1963 in Hildesheim, participated in the 4th Biennale in Lyon in 1997, the 1st Biennale in Berlin in 1998, Manifesta 3 in Ljubljana in 2000 and the Biennale in Venice in 2001 and now lives and works in Berlin.
