Matthias Zinn

Matthias Zinn's painterly oeuvre is increasingly attracting attention, as can be seen by his many solo exhibitions and participations in group exhibitions, in particular his impressive presence at "Ambige - Zeitgenössische Malerei zwischen Abstraktion und Narration" at Kunstmuseum St. Gallen in 2010, where his dialogue with Raoul De Keyser revealed Zinn's detachment from his early works in the style of Pop Art. The artist consistently departed from the seductions of surfaces in order to get to the bottom of things in a painterly manner and to take up the challenge of painting without restrictions, as this artist's book convincingly demonstrates.
