Sempre più... (Ever more...) is the title of Stephan Balkenhol's larger than life-size cedar wood torso. The figure was positioned amongst the ruins of the Forum Romanum in Rome, surrounded by a "sea of false money", from October 2009 to February 2010. The references made to the city's ancient past are quite recognisable, yet the figure is also clearly connected to the here and now. Alongside an analysis of Balkenhol's wooden sculpture, the catalogue is dedicated to philosophical and sociological musings with far-reaching implications, for example, the effects of human greed, of wanting "ever more".
